Kyoto University Gender Equality Promotion Center

The Gender Equality Promotion Center was established for the purpose of promoting gender equality and diversity among faculty, staff and students of Kyoto University.
The achievement of gender equality is the cornerstone of a creative and flourishing society based on coexistence of diverse perspectives and mutual tolerance. Kyoto University aims to serve as a hub for cultivating a new generation committed to the promotion of gender equality. Moreover, as Japan’s population decreases, concerted efforts to train female researchers are an urgent priority for the University as it seeks to secure excellent personnel. For Kyoto University, cultivating and hiring outstanding female researchers based on the philosophy of gender equality is a vital issue for its development as a research university that leads the creative discovery of knowledge in an atmosphere of academic freedom.
To achieve these goals, the University prepared the Kyoto University Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality, covering the 2022 to 2027 academic years. By implementing this plan, the University aims to promote gender equality among all faculty, staff and students, through measures such as child-rearing support, research support and classes on gender.
