The Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability : GSAIS
The Graduate School of Advanced Integrated Studies in Human Survivability (GSAIS) is a five-year integrated doctoral course of Kyoto University centered on human survivability studies. GSAIS examines pressing and important global issues such as environmental issues, population issues and pandemics and addresses questions of survivability for human life, the environment, society, industry, civilization and so on. “Human survivability studies” is a broad-based discipline that seeks solutions for these issues by fusing the humanities and natural sciences to focus on the survival of humanity and regional communities.
It is a new field of academia that instructors and students create together. GSAIS’ unique curriculum cultivates global leaders through a tailor-made curriculum, study retreats, travel to international organizations overseas and project-based research. Our aim is to produce doctoral graduates with a holistic and logical way of thinking, firm will, and the ability to investigate issues thoroughly to find solutions and implement them in society.
