Higher Education Accessibility Platform : HEAP
Raising standards of support for students with disabilities Japan-wide is a formidable task; improving conditions at individual universities is only the start. Networks must be formed that embrace multiple universities, as well as other institutions of learning, companies, government bodies, support agencies and other organizations, both within each region and across multiple regions, so that resources and expertise can be pooled for cooperation and collaboration.
Kyoto University handles applications for the Higher Education Accessibility Platform (HEAP), a program that creates opportunities to form support networks in a variety of situations and regions, with the aim of enabling them to continue operating independently going forward. Efforts will be developed into models and archived for ease of implementation, so that their dissemination and development will have ripple effects far beyond the regions in which they are applied.
By forming more comprehensive networks in this way, HEAP is generating effective support resources and drive diverse social advancement for students with disabilities.
