Where does education come from? Where is education going?

Yusuke Takahashi
Graduate School of Education

Education should be a national policy for the next 100 years. It seems difficult to demonstrate long-term educational effects through a short-term lens. My research is centered on the development of human personality traits, and social skills (empathy, cooperativeness, perseverance, communication skills), as well as individual differences therein. By considering educational policies based on scientific evidence from a range of perspectives, including educational and developmental psychology, behavioral genetics, and psychoinformatics, we can elucidate more effective and sustainable forms of education. To help create a hundred-year plan for lifelong learning, I conduct basic research on individual differences in educational psychology with the aim of providing academic and social suggestions for both macroscopic perspectives (policy-making), and microscopic perspectives (individually optimized learning).
