Coexisting with AI and robots

Tatsuhiko Inatani
Graduate School of Law

Born in Europe in the nineteenth century, modern jurisprudence, which forms the foundation of current legal studies, possesses an important principle: the realization of democracy composed of autonomous individuals. However, with the rapid development of technology that influences and is influenced by humans, such as AI and robots, or as the violence inherent in the concept of autonomous individuals itself is recognized, its validity is increasingly being questioned. Therefore, I apply insights from various fields, such as cognitive science, contemporary thought, cultural anthropology, and economics, to formulate a new perspective of humans and the world that will form the basis of law. Through this research, I strive to create a society where the risks brought about by advanced technology are controlled democratically and reasonably, and people can enjoy its benefits to the fullest.
