The shape of genomic DNA: illuminating the future

Tomoko Nishiyama
Graduate School of Science

Our bodies possess unique genetic information, or genomic DNA. Personalized medicine tailored to individual DNA could enable more precise, efficient treatments. Human genome sequencing has greatly advanced personalized medicine by revealing our genetic makeup. I aim to uncover how genomic DNAʼs individuality forms by studying its shape and behavior. The shape of genomic DNA mirrors the evolution of life on Earth. By decoding its shape, I hope to develop new predictive methods and treatments for various human diseases.
