New ways of perception: the fusion of physics and AI

Koji Hashimoto
Graduate School of Science

How do humans perceive the world? Physics uses mathematical descriptions to formulate laws and predict phenomena in our surroundings and the universe. Particle physics, my specialty, ultimately seeks the fundamental constituents of reality. Meanwhile, recent advances in generative AI have enabled us to model how humans perceive the world using computers and predict words or images. I aim to establish a new discipline, “machine learning physics,” integrating physics and AI as methods of human world perception.
