Toward closing the gender gap in corporate Japan
While gender diversity among corporate executives is advancing globally, Japan still shows little progress in appointing female executives. Female executives contribute to more prosocial and creative strategic decision-making, serve as role models for other women, and enhance the social legitimacy of companies. However, due to gender biases inside and outside companies, the appointment of female executives and their decision-making power are often hindered. To address this issue, I am researching ways to increase the presence of women in top management in Japan, such as promoting gender diversity through the cooperation of investors and other stakeholders and expanding higher education opportunities to broaden the pool of potential female executives.
