Toward a nature-filled future

Our lives are supported by the rich natural environment and our connections with its many living organisms. However, intensified human activities have led to serious global climate change and biodiversity loss. To coexist with our important neighbors on Earth, it is essential to understand and preserve local nature and species for the future. I am working on assessing and conserving aquatic biodiversity using “environmental DNA analysis,” which collects and analyzes the DNA organisms shed into the environment to discern what species live there. By making visible the richness and current state of nature, I aim to raise public awareness and increase the effectiveness of conservation and management measures taken by governments and companies.
