iACT : Partnership with organizations in Japan and overseas for the advancement of leading-edge medicine

Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science (iACT) Kyoto University Hospital

The Institute for Advancement of Clinical and Translational Science (iACT) of Kyoto University Hospital is an organization that supports clinical research, with a mission of bringing the results of medical research to the aid of patients as swiftly and surely as possible. We are organized to serve as a base for accelerating the development of medicines and medical equipment by linking the seeds of world-leading research directly to clinical applications.

Our activities are grounded in three core policies. In science, we energize research, promoting R&D through the strengths of Kyoto University and supporting strategic research based on rapid decision-making. In finance, we seek independence in financial affairs, freeing ourselves of dependence on time-limited public research funding. Finally, in human resources, our policy is to strengthen the capability of our people, by providing practical training for support staff and continuously hiring and cultivating effective personnel.

Through support for clinical research based on policies such as these, iACT endeavors to bring the results of medical research to the aid of patients as swiftly and surely as possible.
