Creating intelligence, understanding ourselves
Human cognition and intelligence are phenomena that emerge in our world. Their dynamics operate across a continuum from physical to conscious experiences, governed by both physical and emergent laws organized hierarchically. Human perception and communicative behaviors are shaped not only by individual sensorimotor information processing, but also by cognition, social culture, language, and social norms. The essence of human intelligence lies in creating these symbol systems through both bottom-up and top-down processes. To understand how humans construct internal representations from experiences and organize symbol systems, including language, within society, I proposed the symbol emergence systems theory and conducted constructive research using AI and robots. Furthermore, I aim to establish an interdisciplinary field that examines the nature of human existence by integrating various scientific disciplines.
