Cytotherapy: new development and best management

Yasuyuki Arai
Kyoto University Hospital

“Cytotherapy” refers to treatments aimed at curing diseases using one’s own or donor cells. I am involved in the field of cytotherapy development science, which involves selecting promising “seeds” from basic research fields and supporting their development into established therapies. On the other hand, in cytotherapies already applied in clinical practice, unmet needs remain, such as maximizing therapeutic effects and predicting complications. To provide better cytotherapies to more patients, I established cytotherapy operations science, a new field that optimizes therapy by predicting and controlling cell behavior. I also share information internationally to promote further advancements in this new therapeutic approach.
