Activities of the Kyoto University ASEAN Center to leverage and develop the potential of the ASEAN region

Kyoto University ASEAN CENTER

Kyoto University has been active in research and education in the ASEAN region for nearly 70 years. To deepen its research, education and international contributions in the ASEAN region, in 2014 the University established the Kyoto University ASEAN Center in Bangkok. Linking organically to that wealth of preceding research and educational activities, the Center is collaborating with related universities and research facilities in ASEAN to contribute to the leveraging and development of the region’s potential. The Center’s mission is fourfold:

  1. To support strategic international cooperative research
  2. To support operations related to international education
  3. To form international networks and strengthen their foundations
  4. To conduct international crisis management

To accomplish the third mission, forming international networks and strengthening their foundations, the Center is engaged in a range of activities. For example, the Center is strengthening exchange and networks with academic research organizations, government-related organizations, international organizations and alumni organizations in the ASEAN region. In addition, the Kyoto University ASEAN Center supports the presentation of the Southeast Asia Network Forum and gathers and shares information on international exchange activities.
