Kyoto University Seminar Series: Kyodai Asia; Africa Juku
Kyoto University is highly active in regional research based squarely on field work. Every year since 2018, Kyoto University presents seminar series that leverage its strengths in field work to bring industry and academia together. These seminars present some of the high-quality research conducted by University faculty probing broadly and deeply into various regions of Asia and Africa.
In the 2022 Kyoda Asia & Africa Juku (a juku is a tutoring school), research archivements on four issues—culture, consumer goods, public health and healthcare, and the environment—were presented on the theme of “Africa today and tomorrow from the perspective of industrial-governmental-academic partnerships.” In addition, representatives of 10 companies and overseas development assistance organizations active in Africa took the podium, speaking from a variety of perspectives on Africa’s issues, characteristics, prospects and visions for the future.
