Efforts towards the protection and effective use of historical materials by Kyoto University

Kyoto University Archives

The mission of the Kyoto University Archives is to collect, organize, preserve, view, survey and research specified historical public records and archives as specified under the Public Records and Archives Management Act and other materials related to the history of Kyoto University. Here “specified historical public records and archives” refers to:
1. Corporate documents whose retention period has expired but which have importance as historical documents and are therefore transferred to national archives, etc.
2. Other items transferred from corporations or individuals to national archives, etc.
The Archives is designated as a “national archive” under the Order for Enforcement of the Public Records and Archives Management Act and so accepts, manages and publishes specified historical public records and archives.
In addition to specified historical public records and archives, the Archives accepts, manages and publishes a wide range of materials, including brochures, University guides and study guides published by the University, as materials that tell the history of the University and show its current state.
